Tonhalle Zürich presented a balanced bill – TOP ONLINE
In total, only 72 concerts could have been performed in front of an audience in the 2020/21 season, the Tonhalle Society Zurich announced on Monday. Due to the corona measures, only between 50 and 450 spectators were allowed.
A total of 13,503 visitors followed the concerts on site. Due to the pandemic, there were no live concerts at all between October 28, 2020 and April 22, 2021. This is “unprecedented” in the history of the Tonhalle Society, according to the statement. The short-time work compensation was essentially for the continuation of the business.
Last season in the Tonhalle Maag
Last season marked the fourth and last of the Tonhalle in their exile at the Tonhalle Maag. The constantly changing Corona requirements and the repeated delays in moving back into the renovated concert hall at the lake would have led to immense additional organizational effort.
“The permanent rescheduling was the only constant over the months,” said Martin Vollenwyder, who was confirmed as Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting on Monday.
After all, in 2021 the Tonhalle received the German Record Critics’ Prize and the Diapason d’or Symphony Award. In addition, she was able to increase her social media presence: more than 2.7 million people were reached via social media.
