The “cannibal of the Pyrenees” decree
The first, nicknamed the “cannibal of the Pyrenees”, escaped Wednesday from the hospital, located on the outskirts of Toulouse. A few hours later, he assaulted a 72-year-old lady with a stick.
The Toulouse prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation for “attempted murder”. Arrested and then placed in police custody, this 34-year-old former soldier was again interned. He was indicted in 2013 for intentional homicide and acts of cannibalism.

An administrative investigation generated
The second, a 48-year-old man involved in a 2010 homicide, fled Marchant Hospital on Sunday, before being arrested a few hours later.
After the first incident, “the Occitanie Regional Health Agency asked the management of this hospital at the end of last week to open an administrative investigation and send a report on the circumstances of this event”, says a press release from the ARS. The report this Sunday of a second patient running away led the general management of the ARS to carry out an on-site inspection mission, to ensure the compliance of the care of these patients, during their stay in this specialized establishment with regard to the regulations in force”, continues the press release.
The Health Agency declined to provide further explanation regarding the two patient leaks.
