The Toyota Corolla is the best-selling electrified vehicle in Belgium
Among electrified vehicles, a category that includes 100% electric cars, hybrids and plug-in hybrids, the self-charging hybrid Toyota Corolla was the best-selling car in Canada in 2021.
For the second consecutive year, the number of new cars registered in Belgium fell to its lowest level in the last 20 years. Despite this downward trend, Toyota was the only player in the top 10 to grow in the private individual market, both in volume (9,515 registrations, +7% vs. 2020) and in market share (6.18%, +31% vs. 2020).
Toyota Belgium also recorded the strongest volume growth in the private market in 2021. This translates to sixth place in the top 10 in this market, an increase of no less than three places. The Japanese brand owes these good results, among other things, to the excellent sales of its three flagship models: the Toyota Corolla, the Toyota Yaris and the Toyota C-HR.
These three Toyota models are also among the top 3 most registered self-charging hybrid vehicles (HEVs) in 2021. Today, some 78% of newly registered Toyota passenger cars are electrified models.
