Lisbon subway train drivers consider strike
ANDIn statements by Lusa, Paulo Machado, an agency of the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (FECTRANS), explained that in today’s plenary session, in which “machinists and their agencies — in charge of traction and attraction inspectors” participated, he was sent to send a letter to the Metropolitano administration with a deadline for responding.
“The official letter will list the problems that the workers pointed out in the plenary. We are going to give the company a response period of eight days so that it can give and indicate the resolution of the problem”, he said, adding that the workers can decide for “a process of struggle ” , in which, although “it is not immediately pointed out as a solution, resorting to strike is not ruled out”.
According to the unionist, the workers want to see the resolution of “many of their problems” which, in this case, according to the person in charge, goes through “they want respect for all agreements and protocols signed with the company, in this case with the director of the traction operational area, which continues to fail to comply and the board of directors has been inoperative to resolve the issue”.
According to Paulo Machado, there are around 300 people in the universe of traction machinists, supervisors and inspectors.
Metro train drivers and inspectors met in plenary between 1:15 pm and 4:15 pm the Metropolitano de Lisboa warned on Friday that the normal operation of the service could be between 12:45 pm and 4:45 pm.
At 15:00, according to information on the Metropolitano de Lisboa website, the “traffic on the four lines are coming together”, with the warning of the existence of “disturbances in circulation”.
“The waiting time may be longer than normal. We thank you for your understanding”, read the notice that appeared for the Blue, Yellow, Green and Red lines.
Metropolitano de Lisboa operates with four lines: Yellow (Rato-Odivelas), Green (Telheiras-Cais do Sodré), Blue (Reboleira-Santa Apolónia) and Red (Airport-São Sebastião), from 06:30 to 01:00 all the days.
