“It says a lot that Brobbey immediately scores again in the Netherlands”
Ruud Gullit believes that Brian Brobbey’s performance since his return to Ajax says a lot about the level of the Eredivisie. The striker, who has been out for six weeks after a knee injury sustained during PSV – Ajax, scored three times in two matches, according to the analyst of Rondo characteristic.
“It says a lot that Brobbey does nothing abroad and that he immediately scores goals back in the Netherlands,” said Gullit. ‘That says something about the level, but also the difference in level between Ajax and the rest. It struck me how bad PSV was and how good Ajax was at 75 percent. I heard Schmidt say he was proud, but I can’t imagine it.’
Colleague Marco van Basten also watched Brobbey at ease, especially against PSV. “When you defend against an injured attacker like this, you let him head the ball in, what does your center do? I find that unimaginable. That level is reprehensible. If we as the Netherlands want to propose something with our clubs, then this is not possible.’
Brobbey could have prevented injury
Finally, Jan van Halst looks at the way Brobbey injured himself on Sunday afternoon. He collided hard with Armano Obispo and according to the former Ajax player he could have prevented the injury. “This is really his own fault. It’s youthful indiscretion. If you’re smart, you think: I shouldn’t do this for a while.’
