in Lyon, 1000 people at the Zemmour meeting without Zemmour
On Saturday, Anne Hidalgo was struggling to bring together 600 people in Aubervilliers. While this Monday evening, they were around 1000 to invest Docks 40 in the Confluence district to support Eric Zemmour. However, the former polemicist had not made the trip. “And we had to refuse people”, noted Agnès Marion, national orator of Reconquest.
To come and greet the “real dynamic” Lyonnais behind the 2022 presidential candidate, it was Guillaume Peltier, Jean-Frédéric Poisson and Stanislas Rigault who were on duty between Rhône and Saône.
Before the public meeting, a press briefing was organised. Olivier Pirra, coordinator of Reconquête in the Rhône, boasted of being able to count on 2500 members in the department, “probably the 1st Rhone party” according to him.
For Jean-Frédéric Poisson’s lieutenant in Lyon, “many abstainers” knock on their door. “And the young people, we are overwhelmed by their enthusiasm”, raved Olivier Pirra.
In the room indeed, many young people made the trip. Their leader, Stanislas Rigault, recalled that it was in Lyon that the very first collage calling for an application from Eric Zemmour was made last spring. “He gathered the youth who were looking for a beacon”, he continued, referring to the figure of 700 young Lyon activists.
Guillaume Peltier and Jean-Frédéric Poisson were more classic. The former number 2 of the Republicans believed that the priority was to “save France” and “Fighting the Great Replacement”. While the president of the former Christian-Democratic Party called for “preserving the French model, and even rebuilding it”.
“How can Laurent Wauquiez support Valérie Pécresse?”
If Reconquête Lyon shows some reinforcements from the Republicans and the National Rally, two hesitant profiles are waiting. Both have their quarters at Confluence, but neither had come this Monday evening: Marion Maréchal and Rhône senator Etienne Blanc.
“Everyone is free to choose, declared Guillaume Peltier. But the only gathering that interests us is that of Eric Zemmour with the French people”. Olivier Pirra recognized in him “Contacts”, from “established links” with Étienne Blanc but nothing official yet. Absent at midday at the presentation of the support committee of elected Lyonnais to Valérie Pécresse, the parliamentarian must decide publicly shortly.
During the meeting, an appeal was also made to Laurent Wauquiez, LR president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region. “I tell you with all sincerity: how can Laurent support Valérie Pécresse?”, wondered Guillaume Peltier. The latter continued: “Eric Ciotti, Nadine Morano, Laurent Wauquiez: careers, who cares! What matters are beliefs, it’s France”.
The speeches ended with a sung Marseillaise. Eric Zemmour should not stay away from Lyon for very long, a meeting in his presence should take place in February or March. It will also depend on the sponsorships obtained. This Monday, Stanislas Rigault recognized in front of the room that the bar of 400 signatures of elected officials had just been painfully crossed.
