These are several faces that the public of Ile Lacroix discovered this Sunday afternoon under the tunic adorned with the Dragon. With a workforce decimated by the pandemic and injuries, it took for the Rouennais staff to compose with a good part of the junior contingent. A real baptism of fire for Marc-André Thinel, promoted to head coach exceptionally to compensate for the absences of Fabrice Lhenry and Ari Salo, also affected by the disease.
However, with only three lines in attack and two in defense, the Dragons will take matters into their own hands. A throw from Lampérier (2’40) and a deflection from Bedin (3’37) in front of Junca, reacted to an audience that was also a little downcast. The Raptors were going to respond in stride by Lagarde, well served by Langlais, but Pintaric was on parade (3’54). Rather balanced so far, a penalty against Nesa, allowing visitors to take the game on their own. Mickevics (8’15) tests the solidity of the Rouen rampart.
But it was the locals who were going to open the brand. After a good job in the offensive zone by Bedin, the latter suited Hervé perfectly, alone around the cage, for an unstoppable deflection (1-0/13’28/ Hervé ass. Bedin and Salve). Not satiated by this but, Hervé took a throw on Junca that Lampérier could not finish, the fault with the right boot of the alpine goalkeeper (14’00). The Raptors reacted with Thillet who stumbled twice on Pintaric (16’27) and Guttierrez in a break failed in turn against the Slovenian goalkeeper (17’30).
The equalizer narrowly stopped, Caron was not far from giving a more comfortable lead on deflection and the rebound that followed (19’58), but Junca closed the door well before returning to the locker room.

With a rather correct first third given the circumstances and despite rather comprehensive approximations in the game, it was now necessary to confirm this good start to the match for the young wheel from Garden. A prison whistle against the Gapençais came at the right time to make the break. However on a counter led three against two by Gap, Pintaric avoided the equalizer against the immense Sosunov (22’37).
Installed again in power-play, Gueurif, in the slot, took his chance for the first time (23’00) before returning to the charge from further away for a superb top corner and the two to nil (2-0/23’18/ Gueurif ass. Tomasino and Suoranta).
The ice rink was starting to warm up after this nice throw, but was unfortunately going to go down a bit. this time Arnaud Faure did not miss the opportunity to shoot Pintaric (2-1 / 25’51 / Faure ass. Chapuis and Bourgeois). But the Norman youth was not going to have time to doubt. After a good job along the strip, Nesa inherited the puck and shifted Salve to the left, the young Rouen defender saw Caron perfectly cut at the far post and served him a caviar for the goal (3-1 / 27’50 / Caron ass. Salve and Nesa).
Upset, the Gapençais go to push to pick up. Mickevics, in superiority tried his luck again against Pintaric without success (30’06).
We had to wait for a long presence in the Rouen area to see the Haut-Alpins return to the mark. After several engagements in the Rouen offensive zone, Correia fired a shot in the traffic that Pintaic repelled with difficulty in front of his cage, Langlais on the lookout took it twice to score in the empty net (3-2 / 36’41 / Langlais ass. Correia and Chapuis).
The Rouennais, far from being defeated, went back on the attack as if nothing had happened. Caron battled behind Junca’s goal and came out with the puck. Salvo throwing full speed on the left recovered the puck on the way and came at an angle to deceive Junca with a magnificent backhand in the Allied skylight (4-2 / 38’46 / Salvo ass. Caron and Lampérier). No time to doubt in the locker room for the Rouennais, the youth does the job!

After a goal-rich third, and another twenty minutes of hockey to go, the question was whether the Dragons would have enough fuel to go through with the game and maintain their lead. Chapuis quickly tried to have his team recalled, but Pintaric let nothing pass (41’27). To avoid any adverse return, it was best for the Rouennais to widen the gap even more.
Message received for Hervé who prevented the exit from the opposing defensive zone and caused a fatal reversal, since his pass appeared Lampérier alone in front of Junca who did not miss the golden opportunity (5-2/ Lampérier ass. Hervé).
With a three-goal lead, the Dragons seemed safe, especially since the Gapençais no longer seemed capable of putting them under pressure. Each team attempting fairly long shots with no real chance of scoring. Langlais was however not very far, with a nice slap, in superiority, to make his former public tremble (53’27), imitated a few moments later by Thillet (54’24). The visitors would still manage to come back in the last five minutes.
After a lap from Colotti, Tessier pushed the puck badly in the middle, towards Prissaint, at the top of the slot, for a winning shot (5-3/ 55’40/ Prissaint ass. Colotti and Correia). This but did not change anything in the last minutes, except for an attempt by coach Blais, in the last moments, to take out his goalkeeper for a last stand. Situation quickly annihilated by Nesa who, after blocking a throw, shot from his side to find the back of the opposing cage and seal the final score (6-3 / 58’46 / Nesa).
Yet greatly diminished by numerous absences, the Dragons, carried by their youth accompanied by a few veterans, have fulfilled the mission perfectly. Despite difficulties in the construction, especially at the start of the match, the Dragons made a serious copy against a team from Gap which did not seem as biting as the previous times.
Yoan Salve, who from the height of his 21 years acted as an “elder” guided his young teammates with a magnificent goal and two assists. The “old soldiers” that are Mark Flood and Marc-André Dorion who had to play almost thirty minutes each without ever dropping their intensity and did a remarkable job in defense. Good points to remember from this meeting on the quality of the Rouen breeding ground in this difficult period.
We will now have to recover certain elements, because from Tuesday Nice will already present themselves on the Rouennaise ice. Difficult to imagine that physically these matches in reduced numbers will not after a while have an impact on the performance of the players solicited.
