Health – Munich – Söder confirms: More spectators at sports and cultural events – Bavaria
Munich (dpa / lby) – Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) has renewed his commitment to loosening sports and cultural events in Bavaria after the federal and state consultations. More viewers will be allowed in both areas, said Söder on Monday evening on BR television – each under 2G plus conditions and with a mask requirement. The cabinet will decide on the details this Tuesday. Söder left it open whether and for which professional leagues this should apply.
“We will make some adjustments because it is no longer proportionate to have the same rules in hospitals when the health burden is so low,” said Söder. You can also achieve caution with a sense of proportion “by letting the population and the people breathe a bit, and thus also giving a signal of hope,” argued the CSU boss.
For the cultural sector, Söder had already announced that it would probably allow 50 percent viewer capacity instead of 25. For which sporting events he will relax and with how many spectators, Söder initially said nothing on Monday.
But Söder argued: “The majority of the federal states, if we think of football for example, have spectators all the time, sometimes many.” In federal states there are up to 15,000 spectators, in Berlin there were recently a few 1000. And it’s not just about football and FC Bayern, but also about ice hockey, handball and basketball. “Some of the clubs may be on the verge of existential threat,” he said. Therefore, one should find a “reasonable way” here. And with regard to culture, he said that the risk of infection there was also very low.
The current Bavarian Corona Ordinance states, following a federal and state decision from December: “Spectators are not admitted to large national sports, cultural and comparable events.” For all other events, a maximum of 25 percent of the spectators – Capacities may be used.
