In Montreal, I Francois Joli-Coeur, Me Jeff Talbot, Me Anais Bussières McNicoll, Me James Woods and me Maude Galarneau have been promoted to the rank of associate.

Francois Joli-Coeur
Me Joli-Coeur has been working at the firm in Montreal since 2017.
His practice is optimized on privacy and cybersecurity issues.
Previously, he acted as a legal affairs advisor at Quebecor Media for more than two and a half years and a research assistant at the University of California Berkeley for 10 months. From 2010 to 2013, he held the position of trainee and then lawyer at the Barreau du Québec.
Member of the Quebec Bar since 2010, he was admitted to the California Bar in 2017. He is also involved in various administrative and advisory boards, including the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
A law graduate from the University of Montreal, he completed a master’s degree in law and technology at the University of California Berkeley in 2014 and a DESS in e-business at HEC Montreal in 2017.
Jeff Talbot
Mr. Talbot practices mainly in business law in the banking and financial services sector and in commercial real estate law.
Prior to joining the firm in 2017, he worked at Blakes, Cassels & Graydon as an intern and associate for two years. In 2013, he already has a title of law clerk at the Superior Court of Quebec. During his studies, he was hired for a few months at McCarthy Tétrault as a student.
Admitted to the Quebec Bar in 2014, he was recently recognized as Best Lawyers 2022 on the list of “Lawyers to Watch in Canada”, in the banking and financial services category.
A graduate in international law and international relations from the University of Quebec in Montreal, he obtained his law degree from the University of Sherbrooke in 2014.
Anais Bussières McNicoll
Me Bussières McNicoll practices in civil and commercial litigation.
She handles cases involving, in particular, class actions, civil liability, banking litigation and injunctions. She also works in the field of constitutional litigation.
Before joining the firm in 2017, she worked for two years as legal assistant to the Honorable Marie-France Bich at the Quebec Court of Appeal. From 2013 to 2014, she gained experience working as a law student at BLG.
A member of the Société des Plaideurs, she was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 2015.
She holds a law degree from the University of Montreal.
James Woods
Mr. Woods practices in litigation and construction law. He advises contractors, companies specializing in construction, engineering firms and clients on numerous issues.
A member of BLG’s Nord® team, he also advises Inuit organizations in Nunavik. In addition to preparing litigation files, he pleads before all courts in Quebec.
Before joining the firm in 2016, he gained experience at Lapointe Rosenstein Marchand Melançon for six and a half years.
A member of the Barreau du Québec since 2012, he is involved as a member of the Young Bar of Montreal.
A law graduate from the University of Montreal, he is fluent in French, English, Japanese and Spanish.
Maude Galarneau
Me Galarneau practices in labor and employment law. She pleads before the Administrative Labor Tribunal and other civil courts in Quebec.
During her career, she has acquired expertise in termination of employment, labor standards, psychological harassment and business immigration. She regularly advises employers on specific issues.
Before joining the firm in 2017, she worked for nearly five years at the Commission des normes du travail.
A former member of the Standards, Equity, Health and Safety Commission of the Canadian Association of Labor Legislation Administrations and of the Standing Interdepartmental Committee on the Protection of Temporary Foreign Workers, she was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 2012.
She obtained her law degree from Laval University in 2010.
