A 22-year-old police officer committed suicide using his service weapon
A young 22-year-old policeman reached in Marseille ended his life. He was found dead at his home overnight from Sunday to Monday.
A police officer from the specialized field brigade (BST) of the 15th arrondissement of Marseille was found dead at his home last night, we learn from police sources. The 22-year-old civil servant took his own life using his service weapon. The reasons for his terrible gesture remain to be determined.
It would be the ninth suicide in the ranks of the national police since January 1.
The Ministry of the Interior has set up two mechanisms to deal with the difficulties encountered by national police officers. A listening line is available for police officers who are victims of attacks or threats on 0800 95 00 17, every day, from 5 am to 11 pm. A psychological support cell is also open 24 hours a day on 0805 230 405. Calls are “anonymous, confidential and free”.
