Ukraine expects at least 100,000 bulletproof vests and helmets from Germany
Ukraine hopes that Germany will provide at least 100,000 body armor and helmets for territorial defense units.
According to Ukrinform, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andriy Melnyk wrote about this in Twitter.
“Kyiv expects at least 100,000 bulletproof vests and helmets from the Territorial Defense Forces from Berlin – for those volunteers who are ready to defend Ukraine from the Russian invasion,” the ambassador said.
According to Melnyk, this Ukrainian clique in the influential newspaper Handelsblatt has become a hot topic in the German media.
The diplomat added that maintaining a protective order would be a “symbolic gesture”, but in fact Ukraine needs Germany’s defense weapons. Melnik testified that his appeal was published on the front page of another German newspaper, Der Spiegel.
“Ukraine needs from Berlin not only a protective order (it was a symbolic gesture), but powerful defensive weapons to effectively defend against a full-fledged attack by Russia as the only serious way to scare Putin,” Melnik wrote.
According to Ukrinform, Andriy Melnyk asked the German government to reconsider its position on providing Ukraine with defense weapons.
