Toulouse: Kilos of drugs and weapons on crazy drivers
Twice this week, offending drivers were checked by the police. Each time, it was big traffickers.
The advice applies to all motorists but traffickers must apply it to the letter. When you drive, you must not commit an offence. Saturday, at the beginning of the afternoon, avenue de Lespinet, in the Montaudran sector in Toulouse, the police officers of the BST Sud checked a driver who came to fault.
The usual checks led the police to discover, in his vehicle, 8 kg of cannabis resin and 3 kg of grass. Arrested, this man was not quite a stranger since he was already under surveillance in the context of drug trafficking.
After this arrest, the police did not stop there since they went to look for six other suspects who, in turn, were placed in police custody. During the searches, the investigators got their hands on the cash, a large quantity of cocaine and a firearm. This Sunday, the police custody continued.
Already on Monday, a trafficker had been caught red-handed after a traffic violation. As he was on the phone while driving, he was checked by the road safety motorized brigade. At his belt is a loaded P38 revolver. In his car, the police found 300 grams of herbal cannabis, 13 grams of cocaine, a sawed-off rifle, 178 .22 long rifle ammunition and €8,700 in cash.
This 27-year-old man with an already loaded record maintained, during his police custody, to be domiciled in Aveyron, a way of avoiding the search. He was tried at the end of the week by the criminal court in the context of immediate comparisons.
Four years in prison
He minimized his role as a trafficker. “I came to Toulouse to stock up as much as possible and go directly to Millau. I had 12,000 euros thinking of my savings. I am a big consumer, I wanted to stock up. I don’t traffic. I smoke a lot, I become paranoid, so I have weapons to reassure me. Explanations that did not convince the court. He was sentenced to 4 years in prison and left for detention.
The fight against drug trafficking is a priority in Toulouse. This Sunday, the police unions said they were satisfied with the good catch the day before. Unit SGP “congratulated the personnel involved and rewarded with this profitable initiative which confirms the determination of the police officers in the field to carry out their mission to fight crime and particularly trafficking without slackening”.
For its part, Alliance warmly congratulated those who, “every day, work for the fight against drug trafficking, often in difficult conditions”. The Alliance union promises to be “vigilant about the legal action taken against the various defendants”.
