19 years ago, 46-year-old Eral Eralp and his mistress Bahar brutally murdered a 42-year-old woman and child in Istanbul’s Avcilar district. The mother and child were alone in the house as the father worked abroad. According to Turkish media, the woman was strangled with a rope. After the atrocity, the killers stole the woman’s mobile phone, jewelry and glasses from her neighbor’s house. However, the perpetrators made a mistake by using the mobile phone of the murdered Nedret Abdullahoglu. It was what was brought to the apparatus that led to the arrests. Eral and Bahal were detained by Tekirdag police 18 days after the double murder.

Initially, the couple denied that the execution had been shortened. Then he began to shift the blame. Only after 7 years did they confess. Eral Eralp and Bahar Tabu were sent to a semi-open prison in Tekirdag. There the news reached them that they were sentenced to severe life imprisonment. The decision was upheld by the Supreme Court of Appeal on September 16, 2011. Bahar was found with relatives in Turkey and imprisoned. During this time, however, Eral managed to escape. He hid in Bulgaria and was with us all the time. It is unknown why he took his own life a few days ago. According to some Turkish media, the death came after poisoning.

The body of Eral Eralp, the son of a well-known lawyer in Tekirdag, Sabahatin Eralp, was handed over to Turkish authorities and buried.
