PVDA calls for “the year of resistance” and organizes march on Brussels | Inland
PVDA chairman Raoul Hedebouw calls in his New Year’s message to make 2022 a year of resistance. “Because energy is getting too expensive, because we’re tired of our wages staying for years, because we’re working until 67, because we can’t let this government, which has all the power with its pandemic law, run its course. That is why we remain busy and create our Basta demonstration on February 27 in the streets of Brussels,” it sounds.
Hedebouw once again argued for a VAT reduction on energy. “That the government will stop dawdling and finally improve the VAT on energy to 6%. Under pressure from the population and our campaign, the lines are moving. Several parties that were initially against these plans now say they support them. But it is not won. that’s why we stay busy and create our Basta demonstration on February 27 in the streets of Brussels,” he said.
In his speech Hedebouw the Vivaldi government on the profiteering of Engie Electrabel to pay for the families after the VAT reduction. “That the government doesn’t come up with their gimmick that there would be no money. Our research department has calculated that, thanks to this crisis, Engie-Electrabel is making a profit of no less than 2.6 billion euros. That men use those profits to pay for the reduction in VAT”.
This crisis is how the capitalist system is completely fa. This is what you get when you liberalize the energy sector. A handful of multinationals control our lighting, heating and household appliances. Gas and electricity are not basic goods for them. For them, it is merchandise, with which they can make huge profits. On the one hand you have energy multinationals that become filthy rich while sleeping, families pay themselves blue. That is unacceptable. We should not change energy supplier, but system,” Hedebouw says fiercely.
Catastrophic Approach
The PVDA chairman also denounced the vital one in his New Year’s message. “Everything is getting more expensive. Energy, food, fuel… But our wages don’t follow. Although more important wages are necessary to meet the cost of our living. Give the working class again the freedom to negotiate real increases,” said Hedebouw.
Raoul Hedebouw further fueled the government’s corona policy: “We have been undergoing their catastrophic approach for two years now. Instead of taking social and measures, this government wants to solve everything through coercion and repression. With passenger, checks and fines.” According to Hedebouw, the PVDA argues for a completely different approach. “For example, make self-tests free, strengthen public services, invest in prevention, refinance hospitals, improve working conditions for healthcare staff and get the vaccine out of the clutches of Big Pharma.”
