Montpellier snatch victory against Monaco thanks to Mavididi
Led 2-0, the Monegasques thought they could snatch a draw against Montpellier this Sunday in Ligue 1, but lost in the last minutes (3-2) on an achievement by Stephy Mavididi. Philippe Clément’s men carry out a bad operation in the race for Europe.
Monaco thought they had done the hardest part. Led 2-0 this Sunday by a very attractive Montpellier team, the Monegasques were able to come back to the score, before being crucified by Stephy Mavididi in added time (3-2).
Surprised by a personal feat from Elye Wahi (1-0, 13th), scorer with a low dry shot, the Principality team was again trapped at the half-hour mark. Following a lost Monegasque ball, Mavididi took advantage of the offering to find Nübel’s side net (2-0, 32nd).

And Mavididi arose
Despite a feverish defence, the Monegasques found the resources to come back before the break thanks to the indestructible Wissam Ben Yedder, header scorer after a service from Aurélien Tchouaméni (2-1, 34th). Worried once again by Wahi, Monaco managed to call the score back on a superb sequence from Vanderson in the 18 meters (2-2, 81st). The Brazilian rookie opened his account with his new team in his third appearance.
All the efforts made did not ultimately pay off for Philippe Clément’s players, who were crucified by a shotgun blast from Stephy Mavididi in added time (3-2, 90th + 1). This victory obtained in the snatch allows Montpellier to overtake its opponent of the day in 6th place and to return to the height of Rennes, beaten in Clermont in the afternoon.
