Mavididi snatches victory for Montpellier against Monaco
The least we can say is that there was nothing to get bored in front of this poster. Montpellier went to seek their victory at the end of the suspense thanks to Mavididi, author of a double against Monaco on Sunday (3-2).
Led for 80 minutes, Monaco had to have done the hardest part by coming back to score thanks to Vanderson (2-2, 80th), who came into play a few minutes earlier.
But that was without counting on Montpellier’s abnegation. In a hotly contested meeting, the MHSC had succeeded on a whirlwind when Wahi, alone at the far post, found the fault to deceive Nübel (1-0, 13th). Mavidi had replied half an hour into the game, well served by Wahi, to register his first goal of the evening (2-0.32nd). Ben Yeder answered him less than two minutes later with a superb header behind the defense (2-1, 34th) and launched the Monegasque revolt.
Nübel’s double parade
ASM then proved to be particularly dangerous, and everything changed in the 56th minute when their new Brazilian recruit, Vanderson, entered, equalizing ten minutes from time. Except that with each attack from Monaco, Montpellier responded in the same tone and everyone passed the ball.
While we left the two teams with a deserved draw, Mavididi still had one last trick up his sleeve. Well served by Cozza in depth, the striker went to deceive Nübel in his skylight (3-2, 90th + 1).
Note that the Monegasque goalkeeper tried to push back the inevitable as much as possible since he was the author of superb parades including a double face to Mollet then Gioacchni (88th).
Monaco can have some regrets about their bad collective address which will have cost them dearly this Sunday.
