Highest snow warning level declared in Austria – weather
A warm front embedded in the northern upper-level current advances slightly east again on Sunday and dissipates over the eastern half of the country at the beginning of the week. Initially, it still ensures wintry conditions in some cases, especially on the eastern north side of the Alps. A high pressure area is moving in from the west, making for generally calm weather conditions.
Snow roller causes traffic chaos in Austria
Am Sunday snow continues to fall in the eastern northern Alps and in general in the eastern half of the country, the snow line lies between low layers in the extreme east and almost 500 meters in the north. During the day, after sudden and away from the mountains and hills, the intensity allows mostly dry weather to prevail instead of isolated snow showers. From Vorarlberg to western Styria it will remain dry and as the day progresses it will be increasingly sunny here. The westerly to north-westerly winds are also finally easing. Temperatures reach a maximum of 1 to 7 degrees.

In Tyrol, Salzburg and Carinthia whistle against it strong wind around the ears of the population. For the states only Burgenland, Vienna and Vorarlberg there are still) no warnings.
New week starts with snow

From Vorarlberg to Lower Carinthia it remains dry and, apart from a few patches of fog, it is often sunny. Even in the eastern lowlands, the sun comes out from time to time in the afternoon. Usually only a light wind blows. The maximum values are between -2 and +6 degrees.
Am Tuesday Away from the Alps and from the Salzkammergut to Upper Styria, dense, sometimes high-fog clouds often persist. A few snowflakes fall in the north-east and raindrops in the lowlands, but mostly it stays dry. From Vorarlberg to Upper Carinthia, the sun often shines away from local foggy areas. In the Danube region, moderate westerly winds will freshen up on the eastern edge of the Alps. The temperatures rise to 0 to +7 degrees.
Also the Wednesday often presents itself on the north side of the Alps and in the east from its cloudy side, especially from the North Tyrolean Limestone Alps to Mariazeller Land it snows very little in the first half of the day. In the south it remains dry and often sunny away from the sometimes dense foggy patches, and it also regularly clears up again in the west. With a moderate west to north-west wind, the maximum values are between 0 and +7 degrees.
