Hanoi (VNA) – President Nguyen Xuan Phuc received Dr. Philip Roesler, the first honorary consul of Vietnam in Switzerland, on January 22 in Hanoi.
The head of state appreciated the tremendous contributions made to Vietnam-Switzerland relations by Rosler, who is also a former vice chancellor of Germany and a person of Vietnamese origin returning to participate in the homeland’s spring program.
President Phuc also noted that Vietnam would like to strengthen strategic partnership with Germany, especially in the fields of information technology, infrastructure, renewable energy, digital transformation and green economy. He asked the former vice chancellor of Germany to continue supporting bilateral relations, especially since the European country recently had a new government.
As Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Switzerland, he called on Rosler to actively promote Vietnam and its economic potential and to convince Swiss companies with modern and green technology to invest in the Southeast Asian country.
At the meeting, the host country chairman also reiterated the appeal to Rosler and Swiss companies to support and promote the early signing of a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association, as agreed by the Vietnamese and Swiss presidents in early December 2021. /.
