contract completed for Stade Français, Toulouse qualified
Reduced, Stade Français managed to overthrow Connacht (37-31) on Sunday. Outnumbered for about forty minutes, the Pink Soldiers knew that their mission to win by at least six points was difficult, but not impossible.
It is their first Champions Cup victory for six years. The last time was January 24, 2016, against Leicester Tigers. The Parisians, diligent and dominant in the scrum, almost paid dearly for their indiscipline: in the 35th minute, Léo Barré’s try was first refused for a clearing on the shoulder of Tolu Latu in a ruck before the Australian hooker does not get a yellow card for this bad gesture.
Qualified for the eighth?
In the process, with a try, Caolin Blade punished Stade Français (38th). Rebelotte in the second half. Barely returned from his ten-minute suspension, Latu puts the cover back. Red card (47th) and Tom Farrell’s try (48th).
But the Soldats Roses fulfilled the contract, with five tries from Adrien Lapègue (19th, 75th), Ngani Laumape (42nd), Kylan Hamdaoui (52nd) and Ryan Chapuis (68th).
This victory gives the Parisians the opportunity to participate in the round of 16 of the European Cup. They double Cardiff in goal average (-32 against -33) while waiting for the result of Wasps in Munster to know if they will see the final stages.
