The prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime – Iași Territorial Service, together with judicial police officers from the Territorial Inspectorate of the Iași Border Police, carried out 13 house searches on Saturday, in Iași County, in a group structure. life. organized cross-border crime, specializing in smuggling cigarettes and tobacco products.
According to a communiqué of DIICOT, sent on Sunday to Agerpres, it was noted that between 2021 and January 2022, the prosecutors of DIICOT – Iași Territorial Service together with judicial police officers from SvPCMIIT of ITPF have illegal, cross-border documentation. in the country, by members of the group, large quantities of cigarettes, both across the green border and through the state border crossing points of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, each member of the criminal group having specific, well-individualized goals and responsibilities, in the activity of coordination, transport, distribution and illegal sale of the goods thus introduced.
Activities carried out on Saturday complement those carried out on January 19, when, in Vaslui and Suceava counties, judicial police officers from the Territorial Inspectorate of the Iași Border Police carried out another 9 home searches of members of the same criminal group.
Following the searches, 10,441 packs of cigarettes, the amounts of 194,150 lei, 9,160 euros, $ 3,000 and 20 pounds were discovered and seized in order to continue the investigation and recover the damage.

During the two days, the actions were carried out with the support of the judicial police officers from STPF Suceava and the gendarmes from IJJ Suceava, IJJ Iași and the Mobile Group of Gendarmes Bacău.
