Thessaloniki-Rape case: Critical data from toxicological and electronic traces HELLAS

Sugar Mizzy January 22, 2022

Investigations into the rape case of 24-year-old Georgia Bika in Thessaloniki on New Year’s Eve are in full swing.

Investigators and police are waiting for the results of both the toxicological and the data from the electronic traces of those involved, as they consider that they will give them important data.

According to information from the results of the toxicological examinations, they are not given by the laboratories of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki to the investigator and they will most likely be opened on Monday. At the same time, the authorities are waiting for the results of the examinations that have been sent to a special laboratory in Bern of Eveltia.

According to thesstoday.gr, all this time the Laboratory of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology is in full cooperation and daily communication with the investigating authorities and constantly informs about the part of the analyzes that have been done in its own laboratories.
At the same time, however, they made sure to send samples to a specialized laboratory in Bern, Switzerland, to investigate the existence or not of new drugs. This is a laboratory with highly advanced technology that enables the detection of drugs.

The toxicological process takes several days

Grigoris Leon, president of the Forensic Medicine Society, explained the process of toxicological examinations. Speaking to Mega, he stressed that once the sample is taken, it is sent to the laboratory for sample processing, the toxicologist conducts further tests and then prepares a report, which he sends to the medical examiner to include in his assessment.

“Unfortunately, the process takes several days. Approximate one month on average for toxicology tests. The more complete the data collected by the medical examiner, the more “tied” the report. The urine sample is able to give results and show if she was given any drug. “Whatever substance we take goes into the general bloodstream, the substances are metabolized and end up in our urine.”

At the same time, Mr. Leon spoke about a series of substances, which as soon as they enter the body do not have a reversible course. «The victim endures the actions of the drug, which is to sleep, to relax all his muscles, to create sexual arousal and a feature that exists in this case is the memory loss, which is exploited by the perpetrators.

Authorities make electronic traces a leaf and a feather

In anticipation of the toxicological results, the authorities are spreading the electronic traces of those involved in the rape case in Thessaloniki from their mobile phones, computers, and even from usb and tablets in their possession.

Authorities are looking through electronic videos, photos, and even many times via sms, mail, social media, for possible conversations to provide information for the investigation of the circumstances of the horrific incident, the New Year’s Eve stay at the hotel in Thessaloniki with the 24-year-old victim Georgia Bika.

It is recalled that after Georgia Bika’s complaint about rape, Vassilis Leventis was arrested, while his brother, Evagoras, and their friend Konstantinos Perogiannakis testified, who all traveled from Athens to Thessaloniki to celebrate the New Year.

“Georgia has no contradictions,” says her lawyer

The young girl allegedly claimed that what she had initially mentioned was true, while she also gave the relevant data that confirms what she said and her complaints about the abominations that took place in the hotel on New Year’s Eve.

All the evidence seems to confirm the moves they made before and after the rape. “Georgia has no contradictions and its statements are considered honest,” said her lawyer, Mr. Ziogas.

“Georgia appeared today again with courage in front of the interrogator and confirmed what she had brutally experienced in the suite on New Year’s Day. Georgia said it with courage, with her face uncovered and her head held high. “We have confirmed what Georgia said in its previous statements and additionally provided evidence of what it claimed last time,” her lawyer said.

The specific elements of messages and calls that confirm her movements and the truth of what she said about the night of her rape.
