“The day I want to be sports director of PSG, I will be”, the last punchline of Zlatan
In an interview with JDD, AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic (40) looks back at length on his time at PSG. And also speaks about the future of the Parisian club. Who could well write again with the Swede. At least, according to him.
Should Leonardo feel in danger? Probably not. The Brazilian is firmly attached to his post as sporting director of PSG. But the function arouses envy. Last summer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whose future at AC Milan was still uncertain, offered his services to his former club.
“I called Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the president, and I offered him: ‘If I don’t renew my contract with Milan, I will come to PSG and I will put your team in order,’ says- he in his book “Adrenaline”. Nasser laughed, but he didn’t say no.” Despite the support of his agent, Mino Raiola, the Swede had finally backpedaled, eager to pursue his career as a professional footballer a little longer with a new lease at AC Milan .
“From what I can see, PSG is doing what it has to do”
A few months after his revelations, is Zlatan Ibrahimovic still bidding for the post of DS in Paris? “The day I want to be sports director of PSG, I will be,” replied the person concerned in the columns of the Sunday newspaper. While waiting to learn more about his intentions, the Milanese sees with a good eye the evolution of the club he left in 2016: “Every day, it becomes bigger. That was the project. If they weren’t, that would mean they’re not doing the job properly. Coaching and managing such a talented squad isn’t easy. From what I can see, PSG are doing what they have to do .”
What if he was ready to win the Champions League, a trophy missing from the Swede’s list? “Leading the world is not done in twenty-four hours. It’s a marathon with ups and downs. Chelsea took ten years (nine in reality) after being bought by Roman Abramovich.” Ibra will probably never win it.
