Switzerland: WEF announces annual in-person meeting during Covid-19 pandemic May 22-26 in Davos
The annual meeting of the world elite from politics, business and business traditionally takes place in January in front of the idyllic snowy backdrop of the Swiss ski resort of Davos. But the forum has not been held since January 2020, despite repeated postponements and even a proposed one-off move to Singapore.
In a statement, World Economic Forum (WEF) founder and chair Klaus Schwab said that after all the virtual meetings that have taken place over the past two years, leaders from politics, business and civil society must finally come together again in person. The WEF said they must create the atmosphere of trust that is truly needed to accelerate collaborative action and address the multiple challenges we face. The WEF added that the meeting, themed “Working together, restoring trust,” will offer leaders an opportunity to take stock of the state of the world and shape policy for the crucial time ahead.
The Geneva-based organization said it will be in close communication with the Swiss government about the Covid-19 situation in the wealthy Alpine nation.
