Miklós Kásler: we are the first in Europe to support culture
Budapest – There is a large-scale institutional development in culture that has not taken place in the history of Hungary since the compromise, Miklós Kásler said in a video interview published on the day of Hungarian culture. In addition to cultural developments and investments, the Minister of Human Resources assessed the current epidemic situation, but also spoke about the school enrollments and the lies about the Healthy Budapest Program.
In a European comparison, in the last 4 years, the Hungarian Government has spent most of its support on culture in Europe – Miklós Kásler reminded everyone on the occasion of the Hungarian Culture Day. The minister put it this way: no such institutional developments have taken place since the compromise.
The actors of the cultural sphere have special tasks related to significant financial support: in the case of performers, it was HUF 1 billion last year during the epidemic, and HUF 2 billion this year.
There is no part of Hungarian culture where the subsidies would not have appeared – pointed out that the government did not give aid to the artists, but made pre-financing with them.
Miklós Kásler stated in connection with the current epidemic situation: the omicron spreads extremely fast, the duplication period is 2-3 days. He pointed out that in France it reached 330 thousand people a day, in Germany 110 thousand. In Hungary, too, the number of infected people doubled overnight at the beginning of the week, he said. He summarized the importance of vaccination: the course of the infection is faster and milder, especially in vaccinated people, they are at greatest risk.
Based on clinical experience and the opinion of international bodies dealing with this, we were able to respond that the Minister had responded to a reduction in mandatory home quarantine from 10 days to 7 days at the end of the week, which could be triggered by a negative test produced after 5 days. In the case of a confirmed pupil infection, no epidemiological surveillance will be performed on vaccinated pupils belonging to the same class as the infected pupil.
For non-vaccinated pupils, the period of epidemiological surveillance is 5 days from the isolation of the confirmed infected person.
The opposition has responded to the statement that the Healthy Budapest Program for the development of the central region is not for the government but for the capital: the EBP has always been a government program and will not stop, it continues its mission. He added that the government handed over HUF 10.4 billion to Budapest 2 years ago and HUF 10.2 billion last year. What was done in Budapest came from this money, with the support of the government, the head of the ministry emphasized.
Miklós Kásler wished a lot of success to the 70,000 young people enrolled in high school this week. He said that based on last year’s experience, there is every chance that the recruitment period will be smooth again this year.
