Maritsa has no problem in the semifinals of the Bulgarian Cup
VK Maritsa (Plovdiv) started its defense of the trophy from the Women’s Volleyball Cup of Bulgaria with a clear victory with 3: 0 (25:14, 25:12, 25:16) over Slavia (Sofia) in today’s quarterfinals. The current winners ensure participation in the semifinals after 60 minutes of play in the Plovdiv hall “Sila” on Saturday afternoon.
According to the draw, the “yellow-blues” will be home in their semifinal match on January 25. They will face CSKA (Sofia), which in the second quarterfinal today beat the visiting Beroe (Stara Zagora) with 3: 0 (25: 9, 25:12, 25:18). The grand final is on January 28 in Burgas.
Led by Silvana Chausheva in attack, Plovdiv quickly gained the upper hand in the first game. Iva Dudova, who came in from the corner, brought Maritsa a game ball with an elegant ace, and two playoffs later, the other 15-year-old volleyball player in Borislav Krachanov’s team, Elena Kolarova, successfully attacked in 25:14.
At the beginning of the second half, the guests from Slavia raised their heads and managed to take the lead with 5: 3, but Maritsa pressed with a favor and scored five aces in the game. And when the Sofia team managed to attack insistently, the Libero-led Mila Pashkuleva’s defense of the “yellow-blues” was in place. An excellent series of six points with Dobrina Hristoskova on the opening kick ended with the attack of Victoria Koeva for 25:12.
Maritsa entered the third game powerfully and managed to lead 7: 1 after seven average points. Despite the fact that Slavia improved their game in attack, and their blade Irena Mishonova made two aces that balance the two aces of Kristina Guncheva in the game, the guests never managed to return to the match, and Hristoskova scored the winning point of Plovdiv for 25 : 16
The top scorer of the match was Silvana Chausheva with 15 points for the champions, followed by Irena Mishonova with 14 for Slavia. Center Dima Usheva impressed with three point blocks and two aces for a total of 12 points in the match.
