In the images gathered in “Ruralidades” found in “bodies punished by working days in the field, from sunrise to sun, games of light that work like those that stir the waters of our souls, here and there candidly under the eyes and by the hands of the portraits , wrinkles, resigned, but also, through the penumbra, irises flooded with a crystalline blue – or green – in which to fit endless horizons yet to be discovered, full of questions…”
Veterinarian-photographer Bacelar has won “international awards with his real-life paintings”, made of closeness, complicity and love for people.
In 2021, he won the Público award at the Travel Photographer of the Year, one of the biggest travel photography contests in the world, and the previous year he was among the 50 finalists in the “Best Photo of 2020” contest.

The people of Estarreja and Murtosa are his great source of inspiration, drawn in raw quality, which show the photographer’s close relationship with the people portrayed.
The exhibition “Ruralidades” marks the beginning of an intense year of activities at the Coliseum. In March, an immersive multimedia story is scheduled to tell the institution and on the 12th, the 450th anniversary of the 1st edition of the Lusíadas will be celebrated, of which the institution has an original copy.
