“I’ve been saying it from the start, Toulouse will return to Ligue 1 next year”
Before the TFC’s trip to Bastia this Saturday (7 p.m., Premium Video), the writing of the site LesViolets.Com a questioned Loic Capretti, social worker from Bastia and member of the supporters’ show Minenfootu.
From the outside, the eviction of Mathieu Chabert at the end of September seemed surprising, but Bastia is doing rather well with Régis Brouard, isn’t it?
“From the inside, I would say that the finding was a little more mixed. Chabert, despite an extraordinary sporting career, has never been unanimous and we felt that we were coming to the end of a cycle with him, which does not detract from his very fine career with us. Brouard is a completely different profile, he brought a lot of serenity to the club. His experience and his professionalism are necessarily welcome when we know that we are coming out of four years as an amateur after our bankruptcy filing.“
What happened last weekend during this defeat in Nancy (2-1)?
“What has been happening regularly for decades when we cross the Mediterranean, our team becomes unrecognizable and revives sick teams. It is a phenomenon that crosses generations and unfortunately has no rational explanation.…“
Sporting are still undefeated at home. How do you explain such a series?
“The magic of Furiani. Even stuck at 5,000, the supporters play their role to the full and influence the match as much as possible by encouraging their team from the first to the last minute. That’s the good side of our traditions. Ten years ago already, we had gone two and a half years without suffering the slightest defeat at Furiani.“
How is it going for Adil Taoui?
“It’s very complicated at the moment, despite a very good first game. Adil’s first half of the season was plagued by injuries, hopefully the physical glitches are behind him now.“
How do you judge the TFC season?
“I find the course of the TFC quite logical and expected. Your team is the best in the championship and as we speak, you are logically first. I’ve been saying it from the start, but unless there’s a big surprise, Toulouse will return to L1 next year.“
Any predictions for Saturday’s game? And for the final classification of the two clubs?
“I want to believe in the start of Sporting with a victory in the key, because everything is possible in Furiani even if you leave largely favorites. For the end-of-season ranking, I would say that Toulouse will be champions (but watch out for the ACA!) and that Bastia, I hope, will hold its own. Thank you for the interview and I wish you a good second half of the season.“
