IL wants to fire “coach” Costa for relegating Portugal from division
“Portugal dropped from the division, if António Costa were a coach he would be about to be fired and, on the 30th of January, the Portuguese even have the opportunity to fire him”, said João Cotrim Figueiredo, at a rally held at the Santa Clara Market, in Lisbon.
In front of a full room, and in a 20-minute speech marked by the repetition of the words grow, change and IL, the liberal warned “it is time to change the government” because the current one is not the one that Portugal needs.
And he warned: “we may be a little more than six days away from ending six years of contraption.”
A contraption, he added, that lasted “reversed and destroyed” what was made, never having served for the country to grow.
Cotrim Figueiredo said that these six years instilled in the PS the idea that he was “owner of it all” and led PCP and BE to defend things for the country that “do not exist or do not work anywhere”.
This contraption has at its head a “prime minister, without ground, without and with the effort to lie and mist energy as seen in the campaign”, he reinforced.
On this occasion, whistles were heard in the room, followed by applause when the liberal said that Portugal needs to grow, but for that it has to change because it was maintained or as the same policies will produce the same results.
The president of the IL took the opportunity to make an appeal for a “truly useful” vote, stressing that voting for the IL is voting for an alternative and not for an alternation.
A vote for IL “will go to Costa”, but a “vote for no lying to Rio” could eventually go to the country.
“If you want different, vote the same, vote for the Liberal Initiative.”
The importance of voting in IL is a message for this election campaign week, he assumed.
