Hermannstraße in Berlin-Neukölln: the color on the new cycle path is partially dissolving
The green color on the new cycle path on Hermannstraße in Berlin-Neukölln is peeling off in some places, although sections of the path have only just been completed in some places. The paint comes off in places where there is a different surface on the street.
“The substrate in these areas has obviously not been pre-treated as it should be so that the color lasts,” says Biedermann. As soon as the temperatures allowed again, the surface was roughened, pretreated and painted again.
The bike path on Hermannstraße is still under construction and has only just been completed in some places. In principle, work can be carried out when it is frost-free and dry on the streets, but the responsible construction companies have a problem with absent staff due to the current Omikon wave, Biedermann said. Many employees are in isolation or quarantine, so it is difficult for them to estimate how quickly the construction work will progress in the coming weeks.
He expects that the faded areas could be repaired in the spring. The State of Berlin will not incur any additional costs as a result of the improvements. The section between Glasower Strasse and Leinestrasse that is under construction costs 340,000 euros. In the coming week, City Councilor Biedermann hopes that bollards will also be attached to the side of the cycle path. These were initially unavailable.
