Boulogne-Levallois is still leader of Betclic Elite after his victory over Strasbourg during the 17th day. Monaco also won, on the Orléans floor, while Bourg-en-Bresse won in the last seconds at Cholet.
Beaten by Roanne and in Paris, Boulogne-Levallois returned to victory this Saturday, and therefore still has two successes ahead of Monaco. The Metropolitans won 85-80 against Strasbourg (5th) after a match where Vincent Collet faced his former assistant Lassi Tuovi. The leader met the match perfectly with a 29-16 in the first quarter, but the SIG returned to -3 (31-28), before finally joining the locker room being led 44-39. Boulogne-Levallois failed to widen the gap in the third quarter and Strasbourg took the opportunity to come back and even pass in front at the end of the quarter (59-61). The score was still 72-72 with 4’49 remaining, but the Mets, led by a duo Will Cummings (30pts, 5rbds, 6pds) – Vince Hunter (32pts, 10rbds) on fire, signed an 8-0 which proved to be prohibitive and offered a thirteenth success in sixteen games. DeAndre Lansdowne’s 16 points were not enough for the Alsatians.
Motiejunas wears Monaco
Monaco, for its part, consolidates its place as runner-up after its 61-74 success in Orléans (14th). The Roca Team led the match well by leading 10-19 at the end of the first quarter and then led their basket to count up to twenty points in the second quarter (16-36). But the Loiret players then managed an incredible comeback, with an 18-0 to come back to -2 at halftime (34-36) and even go ahead after the break (40-39). However, Monaco put their experience to use and came to their senses to get back on track and lead 48-52 at the end of the third quarter, and finally fly away at the end of the match, in the wake of a Donatas Motiejunas who finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds (15pts for Malela Mutuale side OLB).
Harris Hero of Bourg
Beaten in their last two games, Le Mans (4th) bounced back well, with a 57-66 victory over the Fos-sur-Mer floor (16th). While the Provencals of Lasan Kromah (21pts) led 34-26 at half-time and still ten points in the third quarter (40-30), they saw the MSB take the lead at the start of the last quarter (45- 46) and never let go, to finally sign an easy victory. Scott Bamforth finishes with 14 points. Finally, the last match of the evening saw the victory of Bourg-en-Bresse (12th) at Cholet (17th): 79-81. The Burgians started the game well (11-22), but CB came back in the second quarter to lead 40-38 at halftime. Cholet even had a nine-point lead in the last quarter (67-58) but then experienced a big black hole, seeing the JL come back from 77-69 to 77-77, and it was finally CJ Harris who offered victory to Bourg with five remaining! Rasheed Sulaimon finishes with 20 points and DJ Hogg with 22.
