Prague – Up to ten centimeters of snow fell at night in the mountains of northern Bohemia. Roads in the Liberec, Ústí nad Labem, Moravian-Silesian and Zlín regions are passable with increased caution. In the Olomouc region, several centimeters of snow fell at night. There is a layer of slush on the roads. There is fresh snow on the roads in the Vysočina region, snow tongues may form somewhere.

Liberec and Ústí nad Labem region

At night, up to ten centimeters of snow fell in the mountains of northern Bohemia. There is snow on the roads, especially in the Liberec region, in Ústí nad Labem the roads are mostly wet. In both regions, the roads are passable with caution, according to data on web Directorate of Roads and Motorways.

Temperatures in the mountain areas remained below zero at night, it was still zero in the morning in Liberec, otherwise it was in lower positions between one and four degrees Celsius and precipitation was rainy or mixed.

In the Liberec region, there is slush on the main routes of the Jablonec and Semily regions, which lead to the Jizera Mountains or the Giant Mountains. There is a layer of new snow on the lower class roads in these regions. Remains of slush are on the side roads of Liberec and Českolipsko. Road workers also warn of possible icing on the four-lane road 35 from Liberec to Turnov.

In the Ústí nad Labem region, there is slush on lower-class roads in the Ore Mountains, and the remnants of snow after plowing are on side roads in the Chomutov region. Road users warn of the dangers of aquaplaning on the D8 motorway and the slippery road between the 56th and 78th kilometers of the D7 motorway.

According to forecasts during the day it should be cloudy to cloudy in the north of Bohemia, but it should rain or snow only occasionally. In the Ústí nad Labem region, the highest daily temperatures will be between one and four degrees, in the Liberec region between minus one and two degrees Celsius. In the mountains, temperatures will remain below zero during the day.

Moravian-Silesian Region

Due to the night snowfall, the roads are passable only with caution today. Drivers should be worse, especially in higher altitudes where there is a layer of snow. It follows from the information on your web published by the Directorate of Roads and Motorways.

There are remnants of slush on first-class roads that are treated chemically. On the sections that road workers keep passable with the help of inert material, there is a covered layer of snow.

The approximately 25-kilometer section of the I / 56 road between Frýdlant nad Ostravicí and Bílá in the Beskydy Mountains in the Frýdek-Místek Region is still closed to trucks heavier than 12 tonnes. The road, which is one of the main routes in Slovakia, must not be salted and there is a glacier in the hills.

According to the forecast of meteorologists, it will be rather cloudy in the region today, in the Beskydy mountains it will be cloudy and occasionally snow showers. Temperatures will be below freezing.

Olomouc region

Since Friday night, several inches of snow have fallen. There is slush on the roads after chemical dusting, they are passable with increased caution. Due to strong winds, tongues may form in some places. Road administrators carry out winter maintenance on an ongoing basis, according to information from the Directorate of Roads and Motorways of the Czech Republic.

Heavy snowfall at night affected most of the Olomouc region. It was intense mainly in the mountain districts of Jeseník and Šumperk, where the main roads are covered with a layer of slush in the morning. On less important roads, there is snow with dust. The road through Červenohorské sedlo is also passable with caution. Visibility in many places still reduces snowfall.

At night, it also snowed in the Olomouc, Přerov and Prostějov regions, where the road is covered with slush. The highways are usually bare and wet, but the road can be slippery in places with remnants of snow. According to road administration dispatchers, snow tongues may form in the vicinity of Protivanov and Konice in the Prostějov region.

Central Bohemian Region

The roads in the region are wet this morning after chemical treatment, some may have remnants of snow. Road users in many places recommend increased caution, according to the Directorate of Roads and Motorways.

The remnants of snow after plowing were in the morning, for example, on the roads in the Příbram region, somewhere even snow tongues could form. The slush also made it difficult to drive on some roads in the district of Prague-East.

Police did not report any more accidents in the morning. At night, they intervened near Malešov in the Kutná Hora region, where a truck crashed into a tree. The 73-year-old driver did not survive the accident. The cause and circumstances are being investigated by police, a court autopsy has been ordered.

Highlands region

The roads in the region are passable with caution, there is fresh snow on them, snow tongues may form somewhere. Road workers repeatedly drove with spreaders and blades at night, according to the dispatch center of the regional administration and road maintenance, no impassable sections were reported before 08:00. According to information on the website of the Police of the Czech Republic, several traffic accidents occurred in the Vysočina region in the morning.

The accidents went unnoticed. A car crashed near the village of Dvorce in the Jihlava region or on road 360 near Třebíč. At night, she descended into the ditch of the van near Markvartice in the Jihlava region and rolled over on her side. Firefighters also intervened in the accident, and according to their information, nothing happened to the drivers.

According to road users’ estimates, about eight centimeters of snow fell overnight, and road users registered 150 trips. In the Vysočina region, a warning from meteorologists about the formation of snow tongues applies until 15:00. Clouds and snow should gradually decrease. Temperatures will be in the range of minus two and one degree Celsius above zero. The wind will be about 50 kilometers per hour in gusts and will weaken in the evening.

Zlín Region

This morning, the drivers in the region, where several centimeters of snow fell at night, watch out for the slush. All roads were passable with caution in the morning. There are still snow showers in the region, according to information from the Directorate of Roads and Motorways of the Czech Republic.

Heavy snowfall hit most of the Zlín region at night, and spreaders and plows were sent into the field. In the morning, there was slush on the main roads. Highways are usually bare and wet, but in some places their road is slippery. Visibility reduces snowfall. On less important roads, there is a layer of snow covered with dust.

On the road from Vizovice to Vsetín, icing forms in places, drivers drive there carefully. Icing is also on the road from Luhačovice to Petrůvka and further to Slavičín in the morning.
