Toulouse. Garbage collectors: we are starting to see things more clearly
Waste collection is done all over the place. After ending their strike last Thursday, garbage collectors resumed garbage collection on Friday. 3000 tons of waste await the territorial agents. Toulouse Métropole also called on private companies (Coved and Veolia) to make up for the delay during the 52 days of conflict.
If the waste in the streets has not disappeared, it is gradually being collected. Toulouse Métropole announced that “three weeks should be enough to catch up”. The neighborhoods will regain their charm, hidden by the full trash cans.
More than two weeks?
However, the collection has not yet taken place in all the streets of the metropolis. “The agents collect part of the round. To avoid further impacting the inhabitants, they do it upside down the following week, says the vice-president of Toulouse Métropole in charge of waste. , a lot of work has been done, the teams have done a great job this weekend”.
At the end of the first week of an intensive resumption of collection, more than 1,000 tonnes of waste had to be expedited. In theory, the beginning of February should mark the revival of the streets. Jean-Luc Moudenc, during a press conference, had called on his constituents to “be patient”. On social networks, many Internet users continue to challenge the president of Toulouse Métropole about this situation, which should be resolved quickly.
