Slovakia will be at the Winter Olympics in Beijing
At the Winter Olympics in Beijing, Slovakia will be represented by 50 athletes, the composition of the expedition was approved by the General Assembly of SOŠV. 11 skiers will present themselves at the Olympic Games, including Petra Vlhová, 8 biathletes and there will be 25 players in the hockey nomination.
“Until the last moment, we waited for the athletes to pass the demanding qualification criteria. We take as a fact that there are 50 athletes, we know that their number at the Olympics has a declining number. But we are doing everything we can to increase it again. Therefore, we have several projects in which we try to capture talent at a young age, “said SOŠV Anton Siekel.
On Tuesday, 49 names were on the list of Slovak athletes for Beijing. After the opening of the second round of the distribution of seats, the SOŠV was given the opportunity to nominate another cross-country skier, which she also used after consultation with the ZSL, and Kristína Sivoková will also go to the Olympic Games.
For the first time in history, Slovakia will be represented in women’s bobsleigh at the Winter Olympics. In Beijing, Viktória Čerňanská, who won an Olympic place in the monobob competition, will present herself. (olympic)
