Plan for the promotion of military tourism in Greece
Every month, more than 25,000 applications are issued by EFKA employees and certified individuals.
Archaeological sites are not alone the Acropolis, Olympia and Delphi, but also Marathon, the Thermopylae and the Straits of Salamis.
Areas where historical events took place, some of the greatest battles in history, which are even taught as case studies in military academies and war schools around the world. With this in mind, it should come as no surprise that the government is considering and launching specific actions to promote so-called military tourism.
Thus, the general secretary of EOT Dimitris Fraggakis met with the president of the War Museum Anastasios Liascos, the first vice president, lieutenant general Nikolaos Chionis and the special advisor of the museum, Christos Petreas, on the subject of the promotion of military tourism by EOT.
The initiative is covered by the memorandum of cooperation of the Ministries of National Defense, Culture – Sports and Tourism for the promotion of this relatively new but rapidly growing international type of tourism.
Possibilities of partnership were explored to enhance the promotion of tourist monuments of interest, it was agreed to include my military 27 war and military monuments of the country on the official website of EOT, as well as their promotion in international tourism exhibitions, and to create an interactive map with museums. in the application of EOT for mobile devices, while EOT will organize demographic missions from the external areas that have a rich military history and museums.
