Parliament voted: The Republic of Moldova will be able to choose electricity from at least two sources
The Republic of Moldova will be able to supply electricity from at least two sources.
Parliament approved in the first reading a draft amendment to the Law on Electricity, in order to create the necessary regulatory framework in this regard.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spânu, mentioned that in previous years the Republic of Moldova procured electricity from a single supplier.
Participants in the following auctions will be required to supply electricity from at least two sources as a measure to increase the security of energy supply to countries.
The conditions for submitting financial guarantees to participants in electricity tenders will also be changed: the amount of the guarantee will be set to a reasonable extent by the National Energy Regulatory Agency.
The draft amendment to the Law on Electricity is to be voted on in the final reading.
