The Children’s Palliative Foundation, one of the participants in the Open Resuscitation project, took the initiative to simplify the admission of parents of sick children to intensive care units. Pilot project already taken in Russia, according to Izvestia.
From September 2020 to November 2021, hospitals in eight regions of the country facilitated the access of parents to intensive care units where their children are. The project was implemented in the Primorsky and Khabarovsk Territories, Udmurtia, Karelia, Tatarstan, Tambov, as well as in the Tyumen and Kaliningrad side.
As part of the study, experts thought about how often the conditions of children are observed in intensive care, with doctors and in the field. More than half of the doctors (57.1 percent) positively assessed family assistance in such conditions. Among them, 42.2 percent of physicians reported “good” patient care, 14.9 percent offered adult services “excellent”.
It turned out that parents turn to medical staff in the observation of sanitary and hygienic procedures, as well as in feeding the child. They also monitor the operation of the equipment that is connected to the patient.
“The results of the study will be sent to the Ministry of Health of Russia for possible inclusion in the guidelines for the proposal “open resuscitation,” the office expanded.
