Hungary would support Ukraine’s NATO membership, but…
Hvylya.net quotes recent statements by Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, about Ukraine.
According to the portal, Hungarian diplomacy is talking about Budapest agreeing to Ukraine’s membership in NATO, but this can only happen after Ukraine meets certain conditions. One of them is for Ukraine to change its policy towards national minorities. In Ukraine, it does not respect and grossly violates the rights of national minorities.
The portal points out that Péter Szijjártó is not satisfied with the situation of Hungarians in Ukraine. Hungarians in Transcarpathia have been deprived of education in their mother tongue, their mother tongue is discriminated against in the field of public offices, and they are also discriminated against in the cultural and religious spheres. Anti-democracy is a law that prohibits the employment of dual citizenship in public office.
Quoting the words of the Hungarian diplomat, hvylya.net points out that Hungary has an understanding of the struggle that Ukraine is waging for its territorial unity and independence, but it will never accept the attitude towards minorities.
