Guardia di Finanza of Venice. Maxi seizure of 8 thousand leather bags and 15 thousand ‘Made in Italy’ labels – Bellunopress
The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Venice has seized thousands of leather bags bearing the indication of “Made in Italy”, believed to be false.
In particular, during the intensification of the economic control of the areas of greatest tourist influx in the historic center of Venice, the financiers identified a shop, managed by a foreign citizen, which exhibited numerous and varied models of leather bags for sale. equipped with labels bearing the stamp “Made in Italy” as well as indications aimed at suggesting that the production of the goods on display in the windows took place in Italy and that, therefore, was the result of creativity and quality
of Italian manufacture.
Since the preliminary investigations carried out through the findings on the banks led the financiers to believe that the aforementioned indications were not truthful, a number of activities were immediately triggered that involved a further 7 shops in the Historic Center which allowed to find similar material and submit further a I seized about 3,700 leather bags, bearing the tag attesting to the Italian origin of the product.
At the same time, the Fiamme Gialle were able to trace a large part of the commercial chain, identifying the origin of the products from a wholesale center based in Padua, also attributable to foreign subjects, which, on the basis of the documentation commercial acquired, imported leather goods
directly from China. Following the initiative search of the premises, a further 4,000 leather bags were seized.
Furthermore, during the operations, about 15,000 labels were found with the imprint of “Made in Italy”, which are believed to be ready to be “hooked” to leather goods to certify an origin of the products other than the real one.
As a result of the overall activities carried out, the Fiamme Gialle of Venice reported to the competent public prosecutors of Venice and Padua 9 subjects held responsible for fraud in the exercise of trade and the sale of products with misleading signs.
Further investigations are underway aimed at intercepting additional supply channels for leather goods by the shops located in the historic center of Venice, to protect consumers and the millions of tourists attracted by the lagoon city who intend to purchase products on this occasion, considering them to be manufactured in Italy.
