Fiat Panda – Becomes Norway’s cheapest electric car

Sugar Mizzy January 21, 2022

Until now, little Daia Spring has been tipped to be the new, super cheap electric car in Norway. In Europe, it has already become a sales success. Renault now confirms that the car is not planned for Norway in 2022. The reason is first and foremost that it does not have the equipment needed to cope with a tough winter.

At the same time as the Italian factory has received new imports in Norway, Bertel O Steen, which also sells Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot, Citroën, Kia and several other brands, Fiat is in the process of completing a new, small Panda. It is clear that it will be a pure electric car and that it will be very cheap.

NOW: Make a bargain on a new electric car

A sleeping giant

We do not yet know how cheap it is, but it will be priced well below the 500 model that is on sale in Norway today. It costs from 226,000 kroner, according to Vehicle Data to the Road Traffic Information Council.

– This will start on a model series that will awaken to live and sleeping giant, says Fiat president Oliver Francois to English AutoExpress.

The new, Norwegian Fiat importer confirms to DinSide that this is a car that they want to take to Norway.

To Norway

– Not everyone needs a large, expensive electric car with a super long range. For anyone who has a lot of light driving in their immediate area, this can be an exciting car, which we would like to take to Norway, says information manager in Fiat Stian Gihle.

– So far we do not know much about the car except that it will be based on the concept car Centoventi that Fiat showed off a couple of years ago. That means it will be a cool little car, says Gihle. He thinks it will still be some time before the car hits.

Range 25 miles?

So we know little about the technology in the new car. A car of this size will normally have a battery that is large enough for a range of around 25 miles. A larger battery will make the car too expensive.

ELECTRIC ONLY: The new Panda will only be sold as an electric car. On a small car like this, the range will normally be around 25 miles. A larger battery is not possible if the price of the car is to be kept down. Photo: Fiat

To make the car as cheap as possible to produce, concept cars suggested that the new Panda only comes in one edition. However, it must be possible to personify the car by easily replacing bumpers, wheel covers and roofs in four different colors. The owner can buy and replace this even when he or she is tired of one color.

What will be the price?

What the new Panda will cost is not clear, but Fiat boss Oliver Francois promises that it will be very cheap:

It's finally coming!

It’s finally coming!

– When we introduced the electric Fiat 500, we chose to launch the most expensive convertible version with a full equipment package first. The day I introduce Panda, I will probably do the opposite. I want to introduce the most naked edition first with an incredible price.

What he means by incredibly cheap remains to be seen. Electric Fiat 500 starts today at around 220,000 kroner. A tip is on the cheapest Panda can start at 150,000-160,000 kroner.

According to the plan, Fiat will show off the new car during the next year.
