Budapest – It is also necessary that at least one percent of those listed as ethnic voters in the list recommend the list.
The assemblies of the national municipalities must decide on 31 January whether they want to set the list of nationalities for the parliamentary elections on 3 April.
In parliamentary elections, the nationality list of national ethnic self-governments may state that this requires the General Assembly to decide on the issuance of the nationality list on 31 January, and that at least one percent of the voters on the list as nationality voters recommend the list.
Last year’s amendment to the Law on the Rights of Nationalities requires national ethnic self-governments to decide on the establishment of a list of nationalities no later than twenty calendar days after the appointment of a general election of members of parliament. Since the parliamentary elections were announced by the President of the Republic on January 11, the General Assemblies have until January 31 to decide on the establishment of the list of nationalities.
The law allows national assemblies of national minority self-governments to decide on the establishment of a nationality list no earlier than October 1 of the year preceding the election.
The decision must include the names of the candidates and the number of their place on the list, as well as their personal identification number. Decisions – with the exception of personal identification – must also be published on the website of the national self-government.
