They wrote that their specialists carried out the snow removal and de-icing work on the national network on a continuous and scheduled basis. In this case, they work in a convoy: a vehicle working in the inner lane goes in front, from there it plows the snow into the outer lane, from where another machine behind it pushes the snow off the road.

They explained that it is a common phenomenon that they want to try to overtake their vehicles despite the regulations of the traffic road. There are motorists who step into the rear wheelhouse, which is thus unable to degrease the full width of the track. It is also a common experience that irregular motorists join the two machines in the convoy, and after that they do not dare to overtake the first car because they do not see the track due to snow and slush plowed into the outer lane. Only if the truck in the rear of the two-vehicle convoy tries to release the stuck vehicle will many people try to follow the example of the offender and have another car join the ranks. That’s why the vehicles keep their distance from each other, they pointed out.

Due to such situations, the road operator’s work machines were also affected by three accidents in January. Road operators were not injured, but minor property damage occurred, and

vehicles fell out of work for hours due to the locations

they said.

The road manager emphasized that on Saturday – mainly in Transdanubia – snowfall and blowing snow is expected again, so their machines will continue to work on national roads. Therefore, in order to avoid accident-prone situations, everyone is asked not to overtake the work machines and to keep a proper following distance from them, according to the traffic regulations, the communication reads.
