58 530 infection records is new. It has been 11 months since there were so many deaths
In the last 24 hours, 58,530 new cases of covid-19 were confirmed in Portugal, a new record since the beginning of the pandemic. This is the third day in a row with more than 50,000 new infections.
The North continues to be the region with the most cases in Portugal, having reached 24,930 in the last 24 hours, followed by Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (17,673), Centro (8719), Algarve (2199), Alentejo (2011), Madeira (1890) and Azores (1108).
There is also a record of 49 deaths associated with the infection, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) this Friday (21 January). It should be noted that this is the highest number of deaths since February 20, 221 (11 months ago), almost when there were 58.
In the distribution of deaths by region, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo declared 19, in the North there were 14, in the Center it reached nine, in Madeira five, Alentejo and Algarve had one victim each.
