Toulouse soon third city of France? What will change (or not)
While the annual census has just started, Toulouse could take third place from Lyon. Good or bad news ?

Jwill oulouse climb on the podium and become the third city in France? And thus exceed Lyon in number of inhabitants? As the annual census has just begun, the question is causing a stir. Some hope so, praising the attractiveness of their city, competition between metropolises obliges. But others are worried about this demographic growth, which would rhyme with a deterioration in the quality of life. It is true that since the 1990s, Toulouse has experienced a strong increase in the number of its inhabitants. In 2019, during the last census, the population of the city was 493,465 inhabitants against 440,209 in 2009. “In ten years, the municipality of Toulouse alone – not the agglomeration as a whole – has gained more than 53,000 inhabitants which is an average of + 5,000 hours…
