Global warming, biodiversity crisis, pollution… The changes on the planet are giving rise to numerous debates, some of which very clearly show their distrust of scientific expertise and speech.
Who to trust? Should we doubt everything? How do you form an informed opinion? The Critical Spirit exhibition, think again!, currently at the Quai des Savoirs, gives us the opportunity to identify the mechanisms that, every day, influence our decisions and our choices.
The exhibition will be punctuated throughout the year by “a series of meetings” organized in co-production with the Federal University of Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées. For the first of the year, the Quai des Savoirs and the Federal University of Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées have decided to take an interest in trust in political institutions and discourse in times of ecological crisis.
Ongoing ecological upheavals questioned
Is our democratic representative able to deal with the ecological crisis in its urgency and magnitude? Is the more or less voluntary greenwashing that is invading our public space part of a generalized loss of confidence in political, media, economic and scientific institutions? What are the political forms that can still arouse the confidence of citizens? Do experiences of participatory democracy make it possible to find solutions?
This conference, with Julien Weisbein, teacher-researcher at Sciences-Po Toulouse and Guillaume Carbou, teacher-researcher at the University of Bordeaux, specialist in the discourse of political ecology, will be an opportunity to discover “experiments and leads”. of success that allow actors to inspire confidence when it comes to responding to “ecological issues”.
Guillaume Carbou: teacher-researcher in information and communication sciences at the University of Bordeaux, member of the Sciences, Philosophy, Humanities laboratory – SPH (UB Montaigne) and associate member of the Laboratory for Studies and Applied Research in Social Sciences – LERASS (UT3 Paul Sabatier, UT2J, UM3 Paul Valéry)
