LYON

The 5 best places to work for free in Lyon

Sugar Mizzy January 20, 2022

Who says new year, says new resolutions! Well, that’s what we tell ourselves until January, before the temptations catch up with us very (too) quickly. But on the other hand, revising your exams, preparing slides for work or even anticipating your articles at City Crunch – randomly, huh – and well, it’s rather important, and this throughout the year.

And as it seems that working is good for your health, you might as well do it in warm, friendly and above all free places, where you can eat good little cakes during the break! That’s good because at City Crunch, we’ve concocted our top 5 best places to work for free (or for the price of a coffee)

NewTree

NewTree, it’s a bit like a café where you feel at home and where you can spend hours working without realizing it. Yes, productivity is yours! And even if it means being productive, you might as well be in a place that exudes cocooning, with a large open room, small plants everywhere, a wooded decoration and a soft sound playlist, the ideal setting for calming down, with the bonus of the small outdoor garden to take a break when the weather is nice. And in case of small hollows, NewTree invites you to discover its local and homemade products, all 100% organic, between chocolates, pastries and ultra gourmet hot drinks.

🏠 6 Rue de la Charité, 69002 Lyon
⏰ 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday

The Snorkel

The Snorkel, it’s a workplace open to everyone, whether you’re young (or old, we’re not judging), entrepreneur, student or just anyone who wants to share their ideas. But it is also a laboratory for innovation and experimentation, which regularly offers round tables, café debates, workshops and conferences. We especially love the beauty of the place, with its modern and colorful decor, its beautiful wooden tables, and its ultra-comfortable furniture, for a work session in complete serenity.

🏠 227 Cr Lafayette, 69006 Lyon
⏰ 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and closed Saturday and Sunday

Study room of the Saint-Jean Library

What better place to write, revise and work than in the calm and comfort of a library, and in particular the Municipal Library of Old Lyon ? With around fifty seats, sockets on the wall and free Wi-Fi, this room is much more than a simple room to get your work done. It is also a study room which reveals a whole part of the history of the library, with a very beautiful marble fireplace, a classified tapestry and large wooden tables to place your computer. It is even said that Napoleon Bonaparte signed a few contracts there, so who knows, you might find inspiration there too!

🏠 4 avenue Adolphe Max 69005 Lyon
⏰ Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., closed on Monday and Sunday.

Patchwork Cafe

Located in the 7th arrondissement, the Patchwork Cafe is THE place that will make you want to spend whole hours there as long as you feel comfortable there! In addition to super comfortable sofas, pretty armchairs and large wooden tables, this warm place offers teas, coffees and homemade delicacies, ideal for satisfying all cravings! And if this café seduces for its atmosphere, know that its community – the “patchers” – is very active and regularly offers events, such as concerts, tasting evenings, baking classes and even bicycle repair workshops. Go and have a look, and you will quickly be convinced!

🏠 146 Cr Gambetta, 69007 Lyon
⏰ 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. to midnight Wednesday to Friday, 2 p.m. to midnight Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday

Rakwe

And for this last address, we wondered what was the best ally for a day of productive work, and the answer is quite clear: coffee of course! And that’s good because at Rakwe, it’s a bit of a specialty! The place which is both a coffee shop, co-working workshop and art gallery is ideal if you are looking for a calm and warm place (and which has sent good ground coffee). All this for the price of a delicious

🏠 26 Rue René Leynaud, 69001 Lyon
⏰ 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
💻 We go to discover Rakwe on their facebook page

So, where did you decide to put your kits and your computer to work or revise? In any case, do not hesitate to give us your favorite places to work!
