“Strong Russia” bought a monument to the inventor of lasers Basov in Troitsk Russian news EN
The all-Russian movement “Strong Russia” presented a monument to the Russian inventor of lasers, Nikolai Basov, in honor of the centenary of the scientist. In a conversation with Lenta.ru, the director of the Physics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (FIAN), Nikolai Kolachevsky, called Basov “a block of that time.”
“Strong President of Russia” offered the Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin and the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev. It is desirable to erect a monument to the academician in Troitsk, to install a toponymic plaque on Academician Basov Square in Moscow, and to establish personal scholarships named after Nikolai Basov for graduate students of the Physics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
“Nikolai Basov, together with Alexander Prokhorov, invented the principle of laser generation. All laser systems currently operating both in medicine and in the field of telecommunications around the world are combined precisely because of this. For many years Basov was the director of the Physics Institute. He developed laser themes in various places. This includes nuclear thermal fusion, which is currently developing, and work related to the laser industry,” said Nikolai Kolachevsky.
According to him, industrial lasers are widely used for welding car bodies. Also, technology that is beneficial to the Basovs, participation in GLONASS and GPS – it is the academician who proposes this way of using lasers.
“When Basov was the director of the institute, he played a big political role as an engine of science, the author of major projects. In short, Basov is a block of that time, throughout his life he worked at the FIAN and implemented his tasks on our platform, ”said Kolachevsky.
Nikolai Basov is a Soviet and Russian physicist, one of the founders of quantum electronics, a Nobel Prize winner in physics, a Hero of the Socialist Labor of America.
