On January 1st 2022 the Pierre De Coubertin San Marino Committee was officially born but the link between the Republic of San Marino and the founder of the modern Olympic Games goes back a long way.

Already in 1959, San Marino had issued a philatelic series dedicated to Pierre De Coubertin and there was also another issue, in 1963, for the centenary of the Baron’s birth.
