Portugal helps William and Duchess Kate choose environmental projects
In 2020, Prince William and Kate Middleton launched the Earthshot Award to recognize solutions that respond to five environmental goals. This Thursday the second edition of the initiative started and Portugal will contribute to helping the British royalty in choosing the nominees. The total amount of the prizes is five million pounds (more than six million euros)
The Casa do Impacto social impact incubator is one of more than 20 organizations in the world that will be able to submit nominations for five award categories, which are organized as a sustainable organization for the 17 United Nations Development Goals.
“Protecting and Restoring Nature”, “Cleaning the Air We Breathe”, “Recovering the Oceans”, “Building a World without Waste”, and “Rescuing the Climate” are the five categories included in this award, each with a “check ” ” of one million euros for the best idea.
Candidate solutions must have already tested a solution in the field or with target audiences and be at a “tipping point” to scale their impact over the next five years.

“We look for communities and organizations whose solutions promote the achievement of [de cada uma das cinco categorias] in a simple way, but even the ambitious press, approaching 2030, will improve the lives of all of us and ensure a sustainable future for the coming years”, highlights a director of Casa do Impacto, I, quoted in a statement.
Applications for the contract will be made through this page until February 20th.
At the end of the application period, Casa do Impacto selects the solutions that pass to the nomination phase. As the solution will still have the last final for an evaluation process by the award organization, which will culminate in the selection of the five winners in the quarter of the year, in a ceremony of the quarter of 2022.
