Lyon: four years after his death, what remains of Paul Bocuse’s legacy?
This Thursday marks the 4th anniversary of the death of Paul Bocuse. the disappearance of the pope of gastronomy, what remains of his legacy?

The announcement of Paul Bocuse’s death has crossed borders. More than 1,500 chefs from all over the world were present at his funeral. that Radio SCOOP had followed live, January 26, 2018, at St. John’s Cathedral.
His disappearance, the aura of Monsieur Paul remains intact from Lyon. Starting with his face, engraved on a giant fresco installed just opposite the famous Halles that bear his name. A work accomplished in 2015 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its three stars in the Michelin guide.
This third star, the Auberge de Collonges unfortunately lost in January 2020. A new which had been experienced as “a tsunami” by those around him.
A change of course
In recent years, we can see an evolution in the strategy of the Bocuse group. A wish for modernity, with in particular a “new look” Auberge de Collonges and new accounts on social networks.
The closure of the Ouest Express, replaced by a McDonald’s in Vaise, created controversy in September 2021.
A controversy quickly erased a few days later, on the occasion of the triumph of the French team at the Bocuse d’Or. As a symbol, it was his disciple, Davy Tissot, who led the Blues to victory. The Lyonnais chef had not failed to pay tribute to his master, when he brought the trophy back to Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or.
Paul Bocuse will therefore have marked the history of gastronomy, with a know-how taught today in the greatest cooking schools. But above all, and for eternity, one of the greatest symbols of Lyon’s influence throughout the world.
