On Friday evening it’s time. The fourth South Tyrolean ICE Derby is on the agenda. While HCB Südtirol Alperia will take revenge, HC Pustertal will have a cold start.

The ICE newcomer from the Pustertal is slightly ahead in the derby record with 2:1. After the foxes had to narrowly prevail in the hard-fought first game (2:1), the wolves followed up with two victories (6:2 and 3:2) as the season progressed. Above all, the last defeat almost a month ago in the domestic ice wave was extremely bitter for the Bolzano team, as they were 2-0 up before the start of the last period.
However, the current form should rather speak for the foxes, who were able to win their last three games. In the table, the Talferstadt team worked their way up to second place. “It will definitely be a hot game. After the last party against Pustertal we have a lot to make up for. For the fans and for ourselves,” said Bozen’s Daniel Frank, who wants to make amends with his team-mate in the derby.
HC Pustertal is currently in tenth place – the last place for the pre-playoffs. However, the Innsbruck sharks are already breathing down the wolves’ necks. The wolves last played a match on January 4th – more than two weeks ago. Then the Corona wave hit the HCP with full force. The virus had spread through the Wolves squad.
Cold start wolves
Now the wolf pack is challenged in the first game after the Corona break in the South Tyrolean derby. “We are happy and excited that it’s finally going on again,” said Pustertal’s Daniel Glira, who is already looking forward to the next meeting with his ex-colleagues.
This time, however, only 35% of the ice wave may be utilized due to the high corona numbers. The HCB then continues on Saturday with a home game against Black Wings Linz. The HCP received the table neighbors from Innsbruck for the Tyrolean Derby on Sunday.
